What exactly does a Doula do with Eilis Walklett

NURTURING NEW FAMILIES FROM PREGNANCY THROUGH PARENTHOOD

I work with all the family to support each person and to make the transition from pregnancy to birthing at home or hospital, to parenthood as positive as possible.

I qualified as a DONA Birth Doula in October 2016. I am a DONA Post Partum Doula and a GentleBirth instructor.

For further information on Doula and the support that we offer please look at www.doula.ie

There are many Doula packages available to tailor your needs, an example package is as follows:

Doula Package: €800

1 x free initial consultation - this is a chance for you to ask any questions you may have and see if we all gel together. I always think doula's are like anything else we use (hairdresser, counsellor, committee) we need to meet a few to make sure we can choose the one our gut tells us to go with .

2 x antenatal visit  - this is where we get to know each other, talk about your hopes for your birth, go over your health history, discuss my role during your pregnancy and labour, talk about developing birth preferences, discuss labour positions and comfort measures, chat about any concerns you may have, talk about the postpartum period and adjusting to life with a newborn baby and any other questions you may have about your pregnancy and labour and postnatal period. Also we will go through the local resources list and ensure you are getting the support you need. We will also sign contracts at this visit.

Unlimited phone and email support throughout your pregnancy and up to 1 week post-partum from an experienced doula and childbirth educator

A couples pass to one of my monthly GentleBirth Weekend Workshops (worth €325) - this includes 3 month subscription to the GentleBirth App. This is also a great way for us to get to know each other really well and to chat about Everything from making sure our mindset is ready for birth and the Irish maternity system and comfort measures for labour and birth. Preparing for the birth that You want. It is the perfect way to help you both get into the 'bubble' and also to spend time thinking about what type of birth you would like for you and baby.

From 37 weeks dedicated 24/7 on-call labour support.
When labour begins: continuous support from the onset of active labour at home and in the hospital.

Up to 2 hours of postpartum support after the birth of your baby.

1 x postnatal visit to review the birth, and provide basic postnatal support (breastfeeding support, newborn care, postpartum healing advice)

I also provide post partum doula support and this is charged at 15 per hour weekdays and €20 for weekends. It is providing non medical physical and emotional support and household assistance after the birth of your baby, generally anytime from birth to 6 weeks post partum.

I am based in Kilkenny and cover the surrounding areas. Please do not hesitate in contacting me regarding Doula care and any further queries you may have.
